Growing Your Family, Caring for You: Fertility Acupuncture in McLean, VA

October 13, 2026

Trying to conceive can bring hope, excitement, uncertainty, and sometimes disappointment. You may find yourself tracking every symptom, planning around appointments, or quietly carrying feelings that are difficult to explain.

Whether you’re trying naturally or receiving fertility treatment, you deserve care that makes room for you—not just your next appointment or test result.

I offer personalized fertility acupuncture in McLean, VA, to support your comfort and well-being alongside your reproductive care. My passion is helping you feel heard, cared for, and less alone throughout the journey.

How Acupuncture Can Fit Into Your Fertility Care

People seek fertility acupuncture for different reasons. Some want a quiet space to unwind. Others are looking for support with physical discomfort, menstrual concerns, or the emotional demands of treatment.

We begin by discussing your goals, health history, menstrual cycle, sleep, stress, medications, and any fertility evaluations. Together, we consider whether acupuncture is an appropriate addition to your care.

Acupuncture is complementary care. It does not replace fertility testing or treatment, and it cannot guarantee conception or a successful pregnancy.

Acupuncture Support While Trying to Conceive Naturally

When you’re trying naturally, your cycle can start to feel like a calendar of deadlines. Tracking ovulation and waiting for results may take up more mental space than you expected.

I take time to understand how you’re feeling and whether you’re experiencing period pain, sleep difficulties, or other concerns. Your acupuncture plan is tailored to your needs, with goals focused on comfort and well-being.

Irregular or absent periods, significant menstrual pain, and difficulty conceiving deserve medical evaluation. Acupuncture should support your care without delaying answers from your gynecologist or fertility specialist.

Acupuncture During IUI Treatment

Intrauterine insemination, or IUI, may involve medications, cycle monitoring, appointments, and an emotionally demanding wait.

Acupuncture can be considered as supportive care during this process. I work around your treatment schedule, preferences, and medical instructions rather than promising that a particular appointment will increase your chances of pregnancy.

Please share your medications and your fertility clinic’s guidance. With your permission, I can communicate with your care team to keep recommendations coordinated.

Acupuncture Support During IVF

IVF can ask a great deal of you. Injections, monitoring, egg retrieval, embryo transfer, and waiting for results can affect your routine and emotional well-being.

My goal is to offer a calm place where you can pause and receive thoughtful, individualized care.

Before and During an IVF Cycle

We can discuss your symptoms, comfort, and schedule, then consider acupuncture alongside your fertility specialist’s recommendations. Treatment is adjusted as your medical care progresses.

Around Egg Retrieval and Embryo Transfer

Your fertility clinic’s instructions take priority. Please let me know about upcoming procedures, discomfort, or activity restrictions so we can decide whether and when treatment is appropriate.

There is no single acupuncture schedule that everyone needs to follow. Acupuncture has not been established as a reliable way to increase IVF pregnancy or live-birth rates, and I do not promise improved implantation or egg quality.

What I can offer is attentive care, clear communication, and support for the person going through treatment.

A Little Space to Feel More Grounded

You may be doing everything you’ve been advised to do and still feel overwhelmed. That does not mean you’re doing anything wrong.

Many of my patients tell me they feel deeply relaxed, calmer, and more grounded after acupuncture. Everyone responds differently, but having time to rest and feel cared for can be meaningful during a demanding season.

Relaxation is for your well-being. You do not need to “relax enough” to become pregnant, and fertility difficulties are not your fault.

A Personalized Traditional Chinese Medicine Approach

Traditional Chinese Medicine considers your cycle alongside sleep, digestion, energy, stress, and other symptoms. Tongue and pulse assessment are part of this traditional framework and help guide individualized treatment.

These assessments do not measure ovarian reserve, hormone levels, egg quality, or embryo health. Medical testing remains essential when investigating fertility concerns.

My integrative approach respects both perspectives: traditional assessment informs your acupuncture care, while reproductive medicine guides diagnosis and fertility treatment.

Chinese Herbal Medicine and Fertility Treatment

Herbs require particular caution when trying to conceive, undergoing IVF or IUI, or during pregnancy.

Before considering any formula, I review your medical history, medications, supplements, and treatment plans. Herbs can have side effects and interactions, and many have uncertain safety around conception and pregnancy.

Any proposed herbal treatment during fertility care should be reviewed with your fertility specialist. You do not need to take herbs to receive acupuncture support.

Practical Support Without More Pressure

Fertility advice can quickly become overwhelming. I aim to keep guidance manageable and relevant to your life.

We may discuss regular meals, adequate rest, comfortable movement, and ways to support your emotional well-being. Your medical clinician can advise you on prenatal vitamins, folic acid, and other preconception recommendations.

You deserve support without feeling that every meal, emotion, or daily choice determines the outcome.

What to Expect at Your First Fertility Acupuncture Appointment

Your first visit begins with a conversation about where you are in your journey and what you would find helpful.

Please bring:

  • Your current medication and supplement list.
  • Relevant fertility diagnoses or treatment information.
  • Your IVF or IUI schedule, if applicable.
  • Any instructions from your reproductive healthcare team.

Tell me if pregnancy is possible or confirmed so care can be adjusted appropriately.

If you’re nervous about needles, we can take things slowly. I’ll explain each step, check your comfort, and discuss a plan that fits your needs and schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I receive acupuncture while taking fertility medications?

It may be appropriate, depending on your health and treatment plan. I review your medications and follow your fertility clinic’s guidance. Herbal products require a separate safety review because they can interact with medications.

Do I need acupuncture on embryo transfer day?

There is no established requirement to receive acupuncture on transfer day. Your clinic’s instructions, your comfort, and your preferences should guide that decision. An extra appointment should not add pressure to an already important day.

How many appointments will I need?

There is no fixed schedule for everyone. We discuss your goals, treatment timeline, and response, then reassess whether care is helpful.

Does insurance cover fertility acupuncture?

Coverage varies by plan, diagnosis, and policy. Being in-network does not guarantee that fertility-related acupuncture is covered. Benefits and expected costs should be reviewed before treatment.
